Evening in the Round Staring Linda Davis with Special Guests Lang Scott and Bill Whyte

Three of Nashville’s most talented singer/songwriters will bring a little taste of Music City to West Texas when they perform an “Evening in the Round.” The intimate night of acoustic music, starring Grammy award winner Linda Davis and hit songwriters Lang Scott and Bill Whyte, will be injected with hits, humor and a whole lot of down-home appeal. “Evening in the Round” is set for May 29th at Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center.

This enjoyable night of music will see each artist taking a turn at the microphone, playing songs and sharing the stories behind these hits. The audience can expect to hear some familiar tunes recorded by some of today’s hottest artists, as well as Whyte’s own brand of sometimes twisted but always funny songs.

LINDA DAVIS

Labeled a ‘song stylist’, Davis’ unique ability to interpret a song soon made her one of the hottest session singers in Nashville. She quickly caught the attention of label executives and landed her first record deal with CBS/Epic Records.

Early on, Davis gained a legion of friends and fans in the music industry, including superstar Reba McEntire. Their mutual respect for each other’s talent led them to record the duet “Does He Love You.” The recording became a #1 hit and earned the women several awards, including a Grammy for Best Country Vocal Collaboration.

Through the years, Davis has played to sold-out crowds with the likes of Garth Brooks, George Strait, Reba and Kenny Rogers, to name a few. Kenny Rogers, a long-time friend and fan proclaims, “In this business, there are people who can sing and there are singers. Linda Davis is absolutely one of the best singers in the business. I defy you to find anyone who’s ever worked with her or heard her sing to disagree with that statement. She is the best.”

LANG SCOTT

Scott has long been one of Nashville’s most consistent and sought after musicians and vocalists, having toured with Reba, Garth Brooks, Kenny Rogers, the Statler Brothers, and Linda Davis. He has written hit songs for LeeAnn Rimes, Reba, and Linda Davis. He was the first National Champion of TNN’s “You Can Be A Star,” and had his own recording deal with mega-label MCA Records. He has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman, the CMA Awards Show, the ACM Awards Show, Hee Haw, and many others. Lang has been married to Linda Davis since 1984. They reside in Nashville with their two children, Rylee and Hillary. Hillary Scott is one-third of the Grammy Award-winning group Lady Antebellum.

BILL WHYTE

Bill Whyte’s unique presentation of funny and twisted songs makes him a favorite everywhere he entertains.

The Whyte-penned “I’m Goin’ Ugly Early Tonight” which was recorded by Cledus T. Judd, is the perfect howling climax for his stand up-singing routine, which is full of funny songs like “Trailer Park Sexy” and “Retired,” recently recorded by Ray Stevens.

Whyte’s other career is that of a morning radio personality. He has been a morning guy in Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Indianapolis, and Nashville and has won numerous broadcast awards, including the CMA Award for Best Large Market Personality.

Whyte’s songs have been recorded by Linda Davis, Brady Seals, Kacey Jones, and others.
