SUMMARY:Offline & Onstage - Midland Festival Ballet
DESCRIPTION:Midland Festival Ballet is pleased to present a night of new works and old favorites on Saturday\, April 17th\nat 7:30pm. Featuring music from Mozart\, Vivaldi\, and Queen\, this uplifting production will show you a side of ballet you’ve never seen before. The production spans the genre from classical to contemporary and features new works by choreographers Maisha Morris\, Pearl Wamsley\, and Alyce Keaggy Brinkmann. The MFB Company will be accompanied by the Midland-Odessa Symphony & Chorale at the Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center. \nVariations on a Theme of Argyle \nBack by popular demand this lighthearted take on classical ballet by Rob Davidson features fast footwork\, traditional music by Mozart\, and surprises at every turn. Hold onto your socks! \nStill You \nIn a world full of images\, how do we picture ourselves? Still You\, is a piece that shares the individual’s journey in the midst of a collective walk. To speak what needs to be heard. To dance what is felt. To give what only you can\, and believe it is enough. \nBaroque Lucidity \nBringing the glorious harmonic melodies of Antonio Vivaldi to life\, this ballet is a celebration of the three movements of Summer from his Four Seasons composition. Through lively classical corps de ballet formations and innovative solo work\, this ballet is a flamboyant escape for a time when our world needs much jubilation! \nKeep Yourself Alive \nCOVID-19 quarantines dramatically changed day-to-day life for people all over the world. It also changed the way Pearl Wamsley heard some of her favorite songs\, inspiring her to creatively process her pandemic experience. Keep Yourself Alive is a piece full of memory infused with the Pearl-style humor and hope we’ve come to know through her work. \nThis performance is underwritten by: the FMH Foundation \nAdditional support comes from the Arts Council of Midland\, Odessa Arts\, Rea Charitable Trust\, and Texas Commission on the Arts. Additionally\, this project is sponsored in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.
