SUMMARY:40 Years 40 Artists: An Anniversary Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:In celebration of the Museum’s 40th anniversary\, we are excited to announce this exhibition as a tribute to our collection. Throughout the past four decades\, we have diligently collected and preserved a diverse collection of artworks that encapsulates the cultural and historical significance of our region and the broader artistic community. Our collecting mission has been rooted in the belief that collecting art is not merely a task; it is a responsibility we hold for future generations. By ensuring that these works of art\, along with the narratives they convey\, remain accessible\, we are fostering a lasting connection between our community and the artistic expressions that define it. \nThis exhibition will not only showcase 40 exceptional artists but also feature a timeline that highlights significant events from the Museum’s history over the last 40 years. These artworks will spark memories of past shows\, programs\, and events\, allowing visitors to reflect on our history. \nWe invite you to explore these artistic contributions that resonate with our identity and inspire ongoing dialogue about our community’s journey. Join us in celebrating our past\, present\, and future as we honor the artists and stories that shape our collective experience. \nThis exhibition features old favorites\, never-before-seen artworks\, and recent acquisitions\, all from the Museum’s vault.

SUMMARY:The Leaf Connection
DESCRIPTION:DATES: Now through Aug. 24\nTIMES: 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.\nPRICE: Included with Membership or General Admission.\nThe Leaf Connection showcases the vibrant plant diversity of the Phoenix metro area through an intricate display of hand-made\, ceramic leaves at Webster Center. With more than 1\,000 ceramic pieces\, each leaf’s design is influenced by observations community scientists record on iNaturalist\, an established online platform where nature lovers share information on biodiversity. \nDuring the course of the exhibit\, local artist Mary Meyer will periodically add new ceramic leaves as more people contribute observations on iNaturalist. The Garden invites guests to engage with this distinctive art installation\, offering a captivating opportunity to reconnect with nature. \nExhibition unavailable during private events. \nMary Meyer is a sculptor and mixed media artist whose work utilizes systems of carved components that investigate the intimate connections between community and botanicals. Originally trained in stone carving\, she is drawn to meditative processes and materials such as clay\, wood and metal that foster the intuitive exploration of form. Meyer has lived in Arizona for more than 28 years. She holds a BFA in sculpture from Arizona State University where she studied foundry casting methods and metalworking. She completed her graduate studies at the University of Arizona\, where she received the MFA Fellowship for her work with large mixed media installations. The artist has exhibited at the Phoenix Art Museum; Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum; Tucson Museum of Art; and FOMA Gallery Santa Fe\, among others. Public collections include Sky Harbor International Airport Museum; Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art; City of Tempe; and Royal Caribbean International.
