SUMMARY:The Mavericks
DESCRIPTION:Oct 10\, 2021\nEvent Starts8:00PM\nDoors Open7:00 PM\nTicket Prices$30 – $60\nTickets: https://www.etix.com/ticket/p/8678552/the-mavericks-new-date-midland-wagner-noel-performing-arts-center_CFC_WNweb\n\nAny band that manages to survive three decades\, seeing its core members go from young adults to music veterans\, is bound to have its swings and cycles. \nThe Mavericks\, the eclectic rock and country group known for crisscrossing musical boundaries with abandon\, has gone through three distinct phases since it was founded in Miami in 1989. An initial period of heady success marked by big hits and critical acclaim in the ‘90s. A long hiatus starting 2003 when the musicians each went their own way. And finally\, a triumphant reunion in 2012 which held long enough for them to recently celebrate the band’s 30th anniversary. \nNow\, The Mavericks are releasing a new album that ushers in the fourth phase of their evolution. \n“It’s like we’ve had three different lives\,” says Raul Malo\, the band’s lead singer\, and songwriter\, “and now this is a whole new beginning. We’re sort of going into uncharted territory. I’m looking forward to it and I’m kind of nervous about it too. It’s certainly a new adventure.” \nOn August 21\, 2020\, The Mavericks officially launch that adventure with the debut of their first-ever\, all-Spanish album\, released on the band’s own Mono Mundo label. Entitled simply En Español\, it is produced by Malo and the band’s long-time collaborator Niko Bolas (Neil Young\, Prince\, Sheryl Crow). The line-up includes Malo’s fellow Miamian and charter bandmember\, Paul Deakin on drums and vibraphone\, as well as veteran Jerry Dale McFadden\, who joined in 1993. Eddie Perez\, a Mexican American guitarist from Los Angeles\, is the band’s youngest and newest member\, becoming a Maverick in 2003. \nThe band readily embraced the all-Latin concept\, as a team. “It’s a communal project in many ways\,” says Malo\, “even though I’m leading the charge.” \nAlthough all 12 tracks are in Spanish\, as the title suggests\, the collection represents a diversity of musical styles and cultural traditions\, from tender boleros to brassy mariachi to reimagined Afro-Cuban classics. Seven of the tunes are familiar gems drawn from the vast Latin American songbook\, while five are originals written or co-written by Malo. \nLike the band’s entire body of music\, this one album cannot be boxed into a single category. The songs are as diverse as Latin America itself\, and as cohesive as the ideal of the American melting pot. To season this rich musical paella\, The Mavericks add their signature country/rock/Tex-Mex flavors and a refreshing spontaneity to the mix. \nEn Español flips the band’s usual fusion formula\, which adds a striking assortment of genres – salsa\, ska\, norteño\, mariachi\, and much more – to its sturdy rock/country base. Now\, the foundation is solidly \nLatin with streaks of irreverent rock and twangy guitars running through it\, all branded with the unmistakable Mavericks style.

Over 30 years of artist cuts later\, there is no question that he himself is an established storyteller. Whether it’s navigating the ever-changing music industry or battling a sudden\, terrifying illness – Foster definitely has a story to tell. \nFor You To See The Stars is Radney Foster’s eleventh album. Foster has written eight number one hit singles\, including his own “Nobody Wins\,” and “Crazy Over You” with duo Foster & Lloyd. His discography contains countless cuts by artists ranging anywhere from country (Keith Urban\, The Dixie Chicks\, Luke Bryan\, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band) to contemporary (Marc Broussard\, Hootie & The Blowfish\, Kenny Loggins\, Los Lonely Boys). Although highly recognized and accomplished in the music world\, Foster is a true renaissance man. In addition to For You To See The Stars being his first book\, Foster recently starred in the world premiere of “Troubadour\,” at Atlanta’s Tony Award-winning Alliance Theatre.  He also appears in the upcoming feature film\, Beauty Mark.

SUMMARY:Blue October | Wagner Noel PAC
DESCRIPTION:The San Marcos\, Texas-based band (vocalist Justin Furstenfeld\, multi-instrumentalist Ryan Delahoussaye\, guitarist Will Knaak\, bassist Matt Noveskey\, and drummer Jeremy Furstenfeld) have earned a reputation for being remarkably dynamic\, consistently delivering anthemic songs filled with rousing melodies and precision playing. And with this latest album release\, The Is What I Live\, the members are even more in synch than ever because they wrote much of the material while they were on the road supporting their last album\, 2018’s I Hope You’re Happy (Debuted #1 on the Billboard Alternative Album Chart and #1 Billboard Independent Album Chart.). \n“These songs should make you want to fall in love with somebody\, or miss somebody\, or want to do something outrageous with your life\,” says Justin Furstenfeld\, vocalist and lyricist for the unstoppable alt-rock band Blue October. He’s talking about the tracks on the quintet’s tenth studio album\, This Is What I Live For\, recently released on October 23rd\, 2020. \nTickets: https://www.wagnernoel.com/events/detail/blue-october-2021

SUMMARY:Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox
DESCRIPTION:Nov 24\, 2021\nEvent Starts8:00PM\nDoors Open7:00 PM\nTicket Prices$29.99 – $79.99 *VIP Packages Available\nOn SaleOn Sale Now\nTickets: https://www.etix.com/ticket/p/3908853/postmodern-jukebox-the-grand-reopening-tour-midland-wagner-noel-performing-arts-center_CFC_WNweb\n\nEarly last year\, pop-jazz phenomenon Postmodern Jukebox set out to celebrate a new-millennium Roaring 20s\, promising audiences across the country and around the world “the most sensational ’20s party this side of The Great Gatsby. \nWell\, we all know what happened next. Just seven dates into the Welcome to the Twenties 2.0 Tour\, PMJ creator Scott Bradlee pulled the tour off the road and made the decision to postpone the remaining dates — many of them sold out — as a global pandemic took its toll\, silencing live music for more than a year. \nThis fall\, the wait is finally over and Postmodern Jukebox\, the time-twisting musical collective known for putting “pop music in a time machine\,” are set to make the ‘20s roar again! Kicking off in September\, The Grand Reopening Tour will bring PMJ back to thrill music-starved audiences in the U.S.\, Canada\, the U.K.\, Australia\, New Zealand and Europe\, performing some of modern music’s biggest hits in the classic styles of bygone eras. \n“I’m grateful to be able to create and collaborate with so many talented people\, and playing live to a theater full of music fans is something that we’ve all really missed\,” says Bradlee. “We’re fortunate to have so many incredible fans worldwide that have enabled PMJ to become a global touring act\, and we’re looking forward to bringing outstanding talent and classic sounds to every corner of the globe once more. It’s a Grand Reopening\, but it’s also a Grand Reunion – not just for our talented cast and crew\, but also for PMJ and fans of classic\, ‘Old School’ entertainment.” \nAs always with PMJ’s dazzling live shows\, The Grand Reopening Tour will feature an ensemble of multi-talented singers and musicians bringing Bradlee’s generation-spanning arrangements alive night after night. The core ensemble is often joined by surprise guests to make each concert unique and unpredictable – making for one of the most thrilling live music experiences of this and any other time period.  MusicInsight.com put it quite simply in the Before Times: “Go see Postmodern Jukebox. Stop whatever you’re doing\, right now\, and go see them!”
