Get ready for 3 days full of dance the likes of which our community has never experienced! \n18 dance companies across 4 states\, including Midland Festival Ballet will perform new works of various dance styles each night. \nMarch 9 The Emerging Concert: \nOften the most creative performance of the Festival\, the Emerging Concert is comprised entirely of never-before-seen dances created by up-and-coming choreographers. Want to see what the future of dance could look like? Join us for the Emerging Concert! \nAccompanied by local Americana band\, Angel and the Badmen. \nUnderwritten by the FMH Foundation with additional support by Arts Council of Midland\, Odessa Arts\, and Texas Commission on the Arts. The Emmy Award®-winning Netflix documentary has been reimagined as a live experience\, combining highlights from the series with brand-new orchestrations and sequences to create an immersive journey across our planet for audiences of all ages. \nSpecially developed by the series producers WWF\, Silverback Films and Oscar®-winning composer Steven Price\, Our Planet Live in Concert is narrated on screen by William Shatner and David Attenborough. \nPrepare to be mesmerized as the landmark eight-part Our Planet documentary series becomes a two-hour live show filled with beautiful visuals and sound effects\, all accompanied by an orchestra. The show brings the incredible cinematography of Our Planet to the big screen\, encouraging audiences to explore the wonders of earth’s wildlife and their habitats. Dazzling\, intelligent lighting enhances the visual experience beyond the screen\, bringing the beauty of the planet we call home right to your seat. \nOur Planet took the world by storm when it was released in April 2019. Taking viewers on a spectacular journey of discovery and showcasing the beauty and increased fragility of our natural world\, the series explores the fact that humans have become the greatest threat to the survival of our planet and all of the species that inhabit it. The series also highlights that there is still time to address these challenges if we act now. \nOur Planet Live in Concert brings together some of the world’s greatest creatives\, filmmakers\, musicians\, and conservationists to provide an experience like no other. \nConcert producer Floris Douwes at GEAlive comments\, “Our Planet Live in Concerttruly is an event! The creators of Our Planet have edited the most breath-taking sequences from the series to deliver a unique and compelling narrative to live audiences on a large screen in full HD quality.” \nColin Butfield\, former Executive Producer for Our Planet at WWF\, states: “We’ve seen first-hand the impact this series has generated by showcasing the wonders of our planet while also addressing the urgent need to protect it for future generations. DESCRIPTION:March 16 through April 13. \nClosing Event:  April 13 \nPBS Video:  8 Days; To the Moon and Back – 5:30 p.m. Free \nOn July 20\, 1969\, a decade of unprecedented change and technological innovation brought humanity farther than ever before.  Neil Armstrong’s first steps on the Moon could only have been possible with the unprecedented leadership of John F. Kennedy and the following residents who saw his vision through. This exhibit showcases the Smithsonian Institution’s traveling exhibition Destination Moon: The Apollo 11 Mission along with historic items and artworks from the Presidential Archives’ collection as well as items on loan from other institutions.
