Charles Burchfield: Weather Events

Charles E. Burchfield (1893-1967) is one of America’s most celebrated artists. Best known for his depictions of nature, Burchfield developed a unique style of watercolor painting that reflected the Western New York region and his respect for the environment. The exhibition observes the artist’s transcription of weather, the cycles of environment and atmosphere and what it all meant to him. His representations of weather, wind, skies, and sounds are unique historical records of environment near Lake Erie, where he lived for most of his life.
