DESCRIPTION:The Odessa Family YMCA proudly presents our “Giggle & Give” comedy fundraiser sponsored by Sondra and Toby Eoff. The fundraiser will start at 7 p.m. (with doors opening at 6 p.m.) April 4 at The Ector Theatre\, and it will feature comedian Lucas Bohn. \nThe fundraiser will benefit our annual campaign for the Odessa Family YMCA. Those funds will benefit our PreK-3 program\, which we have in partnership with the Ector County Independent School District\, youth sports scholarships\, and free community events held throughout the year\, including Healthy Kids Day. \nIn addition to the comedy show\, the Odessa Family YMCA will hold a silent auction with all proceeds going to our annual campaign. Current silent auction items include artwork from the Odessa Family YMCA Learning Centers\, Dallas Cowboys suite tickets\, Six Flag/Hurricane Harbor tickets and many more. We are accepting items for our silent auction. \nLucas Bohn has been seen on NBC’s “Bring the Funny” and CBS’ Coastal Comedy Live\, performing with comedy legends like Kevin Hart\, Jimmy Fallon and Dave Chappelle. His first comedy special\, “Too Cool for School\,” went viral with over 50 million views. \nCBS7 news anchor Jay Hendricks will serve as master of ceremonies for the event.

DESCRIPTION:With a refreshed lineup and newfound energy\, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band\, featuring founding members Jeff Hanna (lead vocals\, guitar) and Jimmie Fadden (drums\, harmonica\, vocals); Bob Carpenter (keys\, vocals)—a member of the band since 1979; Jim Photoglo (bass\, vocals); Jaime Hanna (guitar\, vocals); and Ross Holmes (fiddle\, harmonica\, vocals); remains one of the most accomplished bands in American roots music. The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band played their first gig in 1966 in Southern California as a jug band and by 1969 had become a cornerstone of the burgeoning country-rock community. Their career breakthrough came in 1970 with the release of the record Uncle Charlie & His Dog Teddy and the single “Mr. Bojangles\,” a folksy Top 10 pop hit that brought folk music to the national forefront. In 1972\, they released the first of three groundbreaking Will The Circle Be Unbroken records\, collaborating with many of the best bluegrass\, Country\, and folk artists in the world. When it was time to embark on recording a new album\, resting on their laurels wassimply out of the realm of possibilities. \nFollowing the release of 2019’s critically-acclaimed Homeland Insecurityand their 2016 full-length debut Humble Folks\, they’ve been on a healthy trajectory rising through the country ranks. After years of working with Lubbock stalwart Scott Faris in the friendly confines of Amusement ParkStudios\, Flatland decided a change ofscenery was necessary. Despite some hesitation and a mixof emotions\, they instantly knew recording at Nashville’s Sound Emporium Studio A with rising producer Jake Gear was the right move.Since its release\, Welcome To Countryland has garnered criticalpraise from Rolling Stone\, Wall Street Journal\, Holler\, Whiskey Riff\, Brooklyn Vegan and many other outlets. The band concluded their hugely successful Welcome To Countryland Tour by selling out Billy Bob’s Texas inDecember 2021\, and kicked off 2022 with the release of the Far Out West Sessions. \nThese stripped-down\, one-take acoustic performance videos of their 2021 hits recorded on-site in thevast deserts and mountain ranges of Far West Texas were an instant hit with fans\, so the bandreleased the tapes on streaming platforms and embarked on the Far Out West Tour. \nWith tour dates from Seattle to London\, festival debuts from C2C to Stagecoach\, and covetedsupport slots with Luke Combs\, Eric Church and more\, the Far Out West Tour brought Flatland Cavalry to new corners of the globe. As 2022 neared its end they surprise-released the highly anticipated single “Mountain Song” and announced an EP to arrive in the Fall. \nWith more new music on the horizon\, 17 upcoming stadium shows with Luke Combs\, and a stacked touring calendar for 2023\, Flatland Cavalry is approaching global influence in the Country& Folk music world.
