The PettyBreakers has played in 22 states and Washington D.C. ­with more being added constantly. Having performed at many cool clubs\, theaters and festivals\, one of the highlights so far was performing at the Naval Yard in Washington D.C. in 2018 for Major League Baseball’s Allstars Pregame Celebration. Another highlight was performing a four and half month residency in the Sammy Davis Showroom at Harrah’s Casino in Reno in 2017. And\, yet another\, was being selected in 2014 as “The World’s Greatest Tribute to Tom Petty” by AXS-TV. We performed a live show at the Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood to a capacity crowd\, which was cablecast on AXS-TV.

An initial period of heady success marked by big hits and critical acclaim in the ‘90s. A long hiatus starting 2003 when the musicians each went their own way. And finally\, a triumphant reunion in 2012 which held long enough for them to recently celebrate the band’s 30th anniversary. \nNow\, The Mavericks are releasing a new album that ushers in the fourth phase of their evolution. \n“It’s like we’ve had three different lives\,” says Raul Malo\, the band’s lead singer\, and songwriter\, “and now this is a whole new beginning. We’re sort of going into uncharted territory. I’m looking forward to it and I’m kind of nervous about it too. It’s certainly a new adventure.” \nOn August 21\, 2020\, The Mavericks officially launch that adventure with the debut of their first-ever\, all-Spanish album\, released on the band’s own Mono Mundo label. Entitled simply En Español\, it is produced by Malo and the band’s long-time collaborator Niko Bolas (Neil Young\, Prince\, Sheryl Crow). The line-up includes Malo’s fellow Miamian and charter bandmember\, Paul Deakin on drums and vibraphone\, as well as veteran Jerry Dale McFadden\, who joined in 1993. Eddie Perez\, a Mexican American guitarist from Los Angeles\, is the band’s youngest and newest member\, becoming a Maverick in 2003. \nThe band readily embraced the all-Latin concept\, as a team. “It’s a communal project in many ways\,” says Malo\, “even though I’m leading the charge.” \nAlthough all 12 tracks are in Spanish\, as the title suggests\, the collection represents a diversity of musical styles and cultural traditions\, from tender boleros to brassy mariachi to reimagined Afro-Cuban classics. Seven of the tunes are familiar gems drawn from the vast Latin American songbook\, while five are originals written or co-written by Malo. \nLike the band’s entire body of music\, this one album cannot be boxed into a single category. The songs are as diverse as Latin America itself\, and as cohesive as the ideal of the American melting pot. To season this rich musical paella\, The Mavericks add their signature country/rock/Tex-Mex flavors and a refreshing spontaneity to the mix. \nEn Español flips the band’s usual fusion formula\, which adds a striking assortment of genres – salsa\, ska\, norteño\, mariachi\, and much more – to its sturdy rock/country base. Now\, the foundation is solidly \nLatin with streaks of irreverent rock and twangy guitars running through it\, all branded with the unmistakable Mavericks style.

DESCRIPTION:October 8 & 9\, 2021 | 6PM |The Ector Theatre | Ticket info below! \n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Play\nThe charming Christmas play has entertained audiences in San Antonio for 26 years and is considered as much a tradition as\, “The Nutcracker”\, “A Christmas Carol\, and ” It’s a Wonderful Life”  with many families making it part of their annual holiday ritual with fans anxiously awaiting its return year after year!\n\n\nThe play captures three Latinas in an uproariously comical attempt at making tamales for the first time.  Things become even more entertaining when the spirits of two seasoned tamaleras appear to help the novices make the perfect tamal!\n\nLas Nuevas Tamaleras had its world premiere at El Teatro Bilingue de Houston for its First Annual Latino Playwright’s Festival\, Houston Texas\, September 1990. It soon had it’s San Antonio premier at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center in March 1993. Since then the play has been produced by Theatre Three in Dallas\, TX.\, Teatro Vision in San Jose\, CA\, La Compania de Teatro in Albuquerque\, NM\, Centro Su Teatro in Denver\, CO. Laredo Little theater in Laredo\,TX and back to Teatro Bilingue de Houston. Besides the annual holiday San Antonio production\, Burras Finas Productions has toured the play throughout the country. The play is a bilingual one-act comedy\, one hour in length and there is no intermission. DESCRIPTION:Michael Nesmith and Micky Dolenz of The Monkees will embark on their farewell tour in September 2021\, stopping by the Wagner Noël on September 27. Commemorating 55-years of Monkeemania\, the tour will embrace major markets in North America through the fall. Their critically acclaimed concerts feature the voice of Micky Dolenz (who sang The Monkees’ biggest hits: “I’m A Believer\,” “Last Train To Clarksville\,” “Pleasant Valley Sunday” and “(I’m Not Your) Steppin’ Stone”) and the group’s primary songwriter\, Michael Nesmith (who wrote such classics as “Mary\, Mary\,” “Papa Gene’s Blues\,” “You Just May Be The One” and “Listen To The Band” to name but a few).This evening with The Monkees will feature songs that span the band’s entire career – from their 1966 self-titled debut album to 2016’s Good Times. Their most recent release – THE MONKEES –THE MIKE & MICKY SHOW LIVE – was issued in April 2020 and became their 17th Billboardcharting album release. In addition to their hits\, their farewell shows will spotlight songs featured on their Emmy-winning TV series (“The Girl I Knew Somewhere\,” “You Told Me\,” “Randy Scouse Git\,” “Goin’ Down” and “For Pete’s Sake”) as well as music from their feature film Head (“Circle Sky” and “As We Go Along”).
