Odessa, Texas 79762 The Art Program at The University of Texas of the Permian Basin is proud to announce our guest visiting artist, Cipriano Bueno.
Cipriano Bueno was born in Ojinaga, Mexico and currently lives in Chihuahua City, Mexico where he is a full-time artist and teaches at the University of Chihuahua. Bueno specializes in ceramics and sculpture, exploring minimalist forms as they relate to cultural symbols from the region he grew up in through ceramics, his medium of choice. Although he also works in wood and metal, for Bueno, clay symbolizes the localized landscape of Ojinaga and the Chihuahuan Desert with its dirt, colors and hot temperatures.

Visitors are welcome to the ceramics studios in the Charles A. Sorber Visual Arts Studios at The University of Texas of the Permian Basin anytime between 11am and 2pm on Thursday, February 2, 2017 to watch as Bueno prepares work to be fired later in the month at UTPB.

An exhibition of Bueno’s work will be installed at Kamiposi in Midland for the month of February with an opening reception on First Friday, February 3 from 6 – 10pm. Both events are free and open to the public.
