SUMMARY:Aladdin and the Magic Carpet: Presented by Midland Festival Ballet
DESCRIPTION:Come see the story you know and love told in a whole new way! With flying dancers\, animated backdrops\, live orchestra\, and over 140 costumes\, it’s sure to lift you out of your seat! \nThis ballet was many “firsts” for Midland Festival Ballet\, the most significant being it is the first full length ballet they created. Other exciting firsts included flying dancers and using digital projections as the backdrop. The result is a mesmerizing explosion of movement\, light and color unlike anything MFB had performed before. All that paired with the drama of live orchestral accompaniment made this\, without a doubt\, the largest collaborative project MFB had ever undertaken. And West Texans were the first to see it at the premiere performance here at the Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center in April 2022! Midland Festival Ballet is excited to bring it back. \nAccompanied by the West Texas Symphony.

SUMMARY:The Next Generation Leahy
DESCRIPTION:As with all forces of nature\, the music and energy created by The Next Generation Leahy simply cannot be contained. The drive to create music is powerful within each of the Leahy children. It has given rise to multi-instrumental talents\, whose dynamic live performances have been described as “astounding” and “breath-taking.” \nFor the last several years\, Next Generation Leahy has performed across North America\, and shared the stage with the likes of The Chieftains\, We Banjo 3\, The Tenors\, and Natalie MacMaster & Donnell Leahy. With one CD under their belt\, they are working on new material for a new CD to be released in 2019. \nBelying their young ages\, these siblings are all accomplished multi-instrumentalists whose live performances are filled with the high-energy\, infectious music associated with the Leahy name. However\, not content to play only the music of their Celtic heritage\, these musicians explore many genres of music and pull influences from far and wide. Fiddle\, cello\, French accordion\, singing\, piano\, and French-Canadian step-dancing serve to bring their unique style of music to life. \nThe music that lives in each of these young people – which is so joyful\, so positive\, and so rare – overflows from them and affects audiences who have witnessed something truly unique and remarkable.

SUMMARY:Little Joe Y La Familia
DESCRIPTION:The traditional Tex-Mex style of norteño was fused by Little Joe (born Jose Maria DeLeon Hernandez) with influences of country music\, blues\, and rock to create the up tempo hybrid known as “Tejano.” Together with his band\, Little Joe Y La Familia\, his music has reached far beyond the Texas and Mexico borders and has been one of the most popular Tex-Mex bands in the music industry. Little Joe has been entertaining more than 50 years and has been described as the “KING OF THE BROWN SOUND”. \nJose Maria DeLeon Hernandez “Little Joe” was born to Salvador “La Cotorra” Hernandez and Amelia DeLeon Hernandez in a three wall dirt floor car garage in Temple\, Texas on a cold stormy night on October 17\,1940. The seventh of 13 children\, Little Joe began playing music in 1953 with his cousin David Coronado’s band\, David Coronado & the Latinaires. Two years later\, he performed his first paid gig with the band at a high-school sock hop in Cameron\, Texas. In 1958\, Little Joe made his recording debut with the song “Safari\,” released by Torrero Records in Corpus Christi\, Texas. The following year\, Little Joe’s brother Jesse joined the band on bass and vocals. When Coronado left shortly afterwards\, Little Joe assumed leadership of the group. Throughout the early ’60s\, Little Joe led the band through a series of recordings on small independent labels. He underwent a personal transformation after Jesse died in an automobile accident in 1964. Determined to achieve commercial success\, he altered his musical approach to include more rock and blues influences. \nSongs of the Polka King\, Vol. 1 In 1968\, Little Joe formed two labels of his own: Buena Suerte for recordings in Spanish\, and Good Luck for recordings in English. He later added a third label\, Leona Records. His musical approach shifted again in 1970. After performing in the San Francisco Bay Area\, he became enchanted by “Latinismo” and changed the name of his band again. In 1985\, Little Joe y la Familia signed their first major-label recording deal with WEA International. Two years later\, Little Joe formed his fourth label — Redneck — and released the double live album 25th Silver Anniversary. After releasing two albums for WEA\, Little Joe switched to Sony International\, where he remained until 1983\, when he launched his fifth label\, Tejano Discos. His first release on the label\, “Que Paso\,” earned him his third Grammy nomination. In 1996\, Little Joe performed on the Frankie Yankovic album Songs of the Polka King\, Vol.1\, singing a duet with Yankovic of “Just Because/Si Porque.” Little Joe has appeared in two films: Proposition 187\, a Deadly Law and Down for the Barrio. \nFifty Years…and over 50 albums later\, Joe continues to tour the world\, trailblazing\, looking forward to new challenges\, breaking down cultural and musical barriers and innovating his musical style. As always\, Joe strives to bring many people together to make a more peaceful and harmonious world. \n\n\nREAD LESS

SUMMARY:Colter Wall - Memories and Empties
DESCRIPTION:Colter Wall\, the no-nonsense rancher who hangs his hat in southwestern Saskatchewan\, is back with Memories and Empties\, his fifth studio album. \n“I wanted to make a straight ahead country album\,” Wall says. His brand-new LP is sure to evoke the two-stepping\, toe-tapping memories of Merle Haggard and The Strangers and their contemporaries. \nMemories and Empties — via La Honda Records and RCA Records — was recorded at the venerable RCA Studio A with Wall’s long-time co-producer\, Patrick Lyons. Wall wrote nine of the songs on the record\, with a cover of Ian Tyson’s “Summer Wages” rounding out the project. Guests Noeline Hofmann and Nikki Lane add their voices to the project with harmonies that complement Wall’s timeless baritone. Throughout the record\, his vocals interplay with a swinging pedal steel and classic-country bass notes as he sings relational stories which play out in rural communities. “This record is really about relationships\, I guess\,” Wall surmises. \nIn support of the record\, Wall is touring western Canada\, Texas and the Southwest\, with highlight shows during National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas\, NV\, Austin’s iconic ACL Live at Moody Theater\, and the Will Rogers Coliseum in Fort Worth’s historic Stockyards.
