On July 20, 1969, a decade of unprecedented change and technological innovation brought humanity farther than ever before. Neil Armstrong’s first steps on the Moon could only have been possible with the unprecedented leadership of John F. Kennedy and the following residents who saw his vision through. This exhibit showcases the Smithsonian Institution’s traveling exhibition Destination Moon: The Apollo 11 Mission along with historic items and artworks from the Presidential Archives’ collection as well as items on loan from other institutions.
