One Book, One Basin – Create A Comic Course
Join us for an exciting event, “One Book, One Basin – Create A Comic Course,” happening on Saturday, January 20, 2024 through February 10, 2024 at 2:00 PM. This in-person gathering will take place at the Ector County Library and Midland County Library, where instructor Caleb Mendes and aspiring artists will come together to explore the wonderful world of comic creation.
Get ready to unleash your creativity as we dive into the art of crafting captivating comics. This course aims to inspire and guide participants through the process of developing their own unique comic strips. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just starting out, this event offers something for everyone.
During this interactive course, you’ll have the opportunity to learn from experienced comic creators, exchange ideas with fellow participants, and gain valuable insights into the comic industry. We’ll cover various aspects of comic creation, including character development, storytelling techniques, panel layouts, and more.
January 20 (Ector County Library): Simple figure drawing. Loose shapes to help get a feel for how the body works, but not get too deep into anatomy. Crash course.
January 27 (Midland County Library): Narrative and Character. We’ll design a single character as a group with a motive, history, and everything important for a character driven story.
February 3 (Ector County Library): Scripting. We will, as a class, write a 1 page script with the character we had already designed. This will allow us to have a skeleton and idea of what we are working for and envision what it is we are drawing with said character.
February 10 (Midland County Library): Put it all together. We will here draw out the one page script we have made for our character. Everything comes together and there is a simple crash course in comics.
So, don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of comics. Mark your calendars for One Book, One Basin – Create A Comic Course Get ready to unleash your inner artist and embark on an exciting comic-making journey!
