A new exhibition is opening at the Ellen Noël Art Museum! Hands of the Himalayas: Gurung Fiber Traditions of Nepal is the story of the remarkable artistry and resourcefulness of the Gurung people, who have lived for centuries in the Annapurna Range of the Himalayas. Guest Curated by Kathleen Mahoney and the weavers and toolmakers of Sikles Village, this exhibition features handwoven textiles, baskets, mats, and tools created from materials gathered in the forests and mountains surrounding the village of Sikles. Hands of the Himalayas offers a rare opportunity to experience the enduring artistry of the Gurung people and gain a deeper appreciation for the relationship between craft, culture, and the landscape that sustains them. Admission to the Museum is always free.

Start off your Halloween weekend Out West! Out West presents T.I. and Waka Flocka Flame live at the Midland County Horseshoe on Friday, October 30. Grammy Award-winning artist T.I. is known for hits like “Whatever You Like,” “Live Your Life,” and “Bring Em Out.” Waka Flocka Flame brings the energy behind “No Hands,” “Hard in da Paint,” and “Grove St. Party.” Together, they’re bringing a night of hip-hop to Midland-Odessa. Sci-Friday (The Time Machine)

Join us four our final Sci-Friday of the season featuring The Time Machine, the Sci-fi thriller starring Guy Earce, Yancey Arais, and Mark Addy! Scientist and inventor Alexander Hartdegen (Guy Pearce) is determined to prove that time travel is possible. His determination is turned to desperation by a personal tragedy that now drives him to want to change the past. Testing his theories with a time machine of his own invention, Hartdegen is hurtled 800,000 years into the future, where he discovers that mankind has divided into the hunter ... and the hunted. Doors open at 6:30pm and the movie begins at 7:00pm. Refreshments are provided. Cost: $10 for non-members and FREE for Museum members
