  • Artist Talk: Barry Phillips the Younger

    In describing his upcoming retrospective, Phillips shared: "I am honored to present my 40-year retrospective at Odessa College. It will be fun and informative and strange, so don't miss it!" In addition to the exhibition, Odessa College will host an artist talk with Phillips at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16, in the Globe Theater, followed by a reception in the Phillips Goff Gallery. Phillips holds a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Texas Tech University and a Master's degree in Fine Art from Texas A&M - Commerce. He is also a former member of the board of directors for the Texas Association of Schools of Art. The Phillips Goff Gallery will be open during the exhibition with hours of 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday

Art Talk is all about exploring different perspectives and sparking lively conversation. Whether you’re an art aficionado or just curious, share your thoughts and insights in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We go through a three question process that allows visitors to share their perceptions while viewing a piece of art from our Permanent Collection.   • Art A La Carte

    Join us Saturday, Sept 20, inside the Museum and on the patio, for Art a la Carte; a fun, free, art-filled day for the whole community that kicks off all our upcoming educational events, and classes.  Enjoy art stations and visits from our community partners, Pot-n-Print, Odessa Arts Home Town project, the ECISD Early Childhood and Social Studies Departments.

  • Cassatt Quartet Residency

    We bring the Cassatt String Quartet to West Texas bi-annually to inspire and work intensively with our students (elementary to college students), expand students' horizons, and give cultural awareness and higher education guidance. We enrich and develop people through music. Students learn life lessons via chamber music and orchestral playing such as teamwork, verbal and non-verbal communication, and respect for one another.     Join us at the Ellen Noël Art Museum for a delightful event tailored for art-loving preschoolers aged 3-5 and their grown-ups. At 1:00 PM, we invite you to immerse yourselves in a beautifully illustrated story and a fun art activity. This free event offers an engaging children's story followed by a hands-on art project related to the tale. Our featured book for this session is When I Am Big by Maria Dek. Young attendees will be entertained by a whimsical and imaginative counting book that encourages young children to dream big and explore the possibilities of growing up. After the story, children will participate in an art activity inspired by the adventures. It’s a wonderful opportunity to foster a love of reading and creativity in young children while spending quality time together. We look forward to welcoming you and your little artists to the museum for this fun and inspiring event!

All skill levels are welcome—from novices eager to learn to experts willing to share their wisdom. Our event offers a unique blend of creativity and camaraderie. Engage in stimulating conversations and build friendships with fellow crafters as you explore visual thinking strategies to discuss and appreciate artwork. Share your projects, exchange tips, and inspire each other in a warm and supportive environment. And don’t stress about those little mistakes—we all make them! Someone might even adore your sweater with the mismatched sleeves or the missing neck hole. So, bring your projects, your questions, and your sense of humor.     Register for studio classes that take place on select Sundays from 2:30-4:30 for students ages 6-12. Students can tour current exhibitions and do a related studio art project. $20 per class by advance, online registration only (by noon the previous Thursday).  Class size is limited, so sign up soon!   • ENAM at Park’s Legado Farmer’s Market

We’ll be at our booth handing out FREE kids art projects—each kit comes with all the materials your young artist needs to get creative at home. Make it a fun morning! Each session offers a supportive space where participants can explore materials, learn new techniques, and create art at their own pace.   • Dia De Los Muertos

    Join us for our annual Día de los Muertos celebration at the Ellen Noël Art Museum! This free, family-friendly event is a vibrant way to honor and learn about the customs and traditions of this meaningful holiday. From 1:00–3:00 PM, enjoy hands-on art activities inspired by Día de los Muertos. Then, from 3:00–4:30 PM, experience live music and dance performances that bring the celebration to life. We’re excited to welcome our community partners: – ECISD Early Childhood Department – Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin – Spanish students from Compass Academy, who will present a special pop-up ofrenda exhibition And more! Come celebrate culture, creativity, and community with us—everyone is welcome!
