    Come to the basement activity room and learn to play chess with Chase Ross, the chess coach for Goddard JHS and Bunche Elementary School in Midland. Learn to move your pawns, the moves a Knight can make, and checkmate your opponent.

    Originally from a small farming community in Southeastern Colorado, Rosie Talley resides in West Texas with her husband and daughter. Rosie is the author of Linus the Troll and Linus the Troll and the Isle of Huggles. Ever since childhood, Rosie has had a passion for storytelling. She looks forward to sharing more of her stories in the future.   • Sensory Friendly Storytime

    We understand that large groups in a storytime can be overwhelming for some of our patrons. So we have partnered with Share, who work with Special Needs families in the Permian Basin for a Sensory Friendly Storytime with a couple of books, a few songs, and craft or sensory toys to play with after storytime. We will also have a calming room set aside for those that get overstimulated. Location: 3rd Floor Auditorium

  • Passive Program: Make Your Own Chess Set

    **Ongoing monthly activity available at the Children’s circulation desk.** This month’s passive program is a fun adventure of wits and strategy – each chess move is a step towards exciting victories! Pick up supplies at the Children’s circulation desk to make your own chess set. Later in the month we will have a special Chess Class on April 22, 2024.
