Vizyon Art by Young Visionaries – Haitian Children’s Art Show – Exhibit Opens
Artistic expression is inherently shaped by cultural influences and personal experiences within a given society. Haiti is no exception to this rule. In response to this cultural dynamic, the nonprofit organization, New Vision Art School, located in Port-au-Prince, Haiti was established to address a community need. It serves as a safe haven for children, offering them the opportunity to enjoy workshops, channel their creativity, embark on educational journeys to museums and other art-related institutions, and fosters a supportive community where parents can connect and receive assistance. This pop-up exhibition showcases the artistic creations by children who have benefitted from the nonprofit organization, New Vision Art School, located in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The artwork by these children reflects their cultural beliefs, traditions, and customs. Please join us for a reception one week after opening, on February 8th, 2024, at 6PM! on loan from the Hatcher-Levinger Family collection.

Shen Yun Performing Arts is a nonprofit organization based in New York. Its mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture. While Shen Yun cannot perform in China today, it is sharing this precious heritage with the world. The words to describe it might be ‘divine,’ ‘reborn,’ and ‘hope.’ You have to see it to believe it.” —Christine Walevska, master cellist “It makes you dream of a heavenly world. It's really a balsam, a salve for the soul. It's something that really restores you, regenerates you." —Filippa Giordano, famous Italian-Mexican Singer
