Amazing Castle Exhibit – Centennial

The Amazing Castle™ transports children and adults to a magical place and time—within the castle’s stone walls there exists a happy and peaceful little community where every citizen has a special job to do. As visitors explore The Amazing Castle and its eight themed areas, they will encounter seven citizens who are part of the castle community. From entertaining to sewing, each citizen plays a special role. As they move through the castle, visitors can playfully explore ideas related to community life and experience the interconnectedness of friends, family and new acquaintances. Locally sponsored by the FMH Foundation, Rea Charitable Trust, Helen Greathouse Charitable Trust, MCPL Foundation, and the Carnegie Circle.

DATE: Now - June 1 TIME: 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. PRICE: Included in Membership and General Admission Explore an engaging exhibit led by textile-based artist Ann Morton, centered on community and environment. TOWARD 2050 invites the public to craft handmade artworks that express their views on the environment. These unique creations will come together in a captivating labyrinth installation at the Garden that encourages visitors to take steps towards addressing climate change. About the Artist Ann Morton is a textile-based artist, educator and social practitioner ​living in Phoenix, Arizona. Her work utilizes traditional fiber techniques as conceptual tools for aesthetic, social communication to examine a society of which we are all a part — as bystanders, participants, victims and perpetrators. She is driven by a desire to employ her art as a voice for advocacy. The work reflects her own handwork, but also orchestrates the handwork from a variety of community participants through public interventions that seek to harness the power in the act of making for social purpose. April 22 | Earth Day 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Ullman Terrace Celebrate Earth Day at the Garden and learn about fun ways to make your old clothes feel new again! Bring an old t-shirt or denim jacket for a fun (and complimentary) clothing up-cycle activity. May 13 | Full Moon Ceremony Ullman Terrace 6-9 p.m. Connect your mind and body to the power of the full moon with this traditional ceremony hosted by Karla Vergopia. The ceremony will start promptly at 7 p.m. and late arrivals are discouraged.
