This special event is dedicated to honoring the rich customs and traditions of this beloved Mexican holiday. Families and individuals of all ages are welcome to participate in a variety of free art activities designed to engage and delight children. These activities will provide a fun and educational way for kids to connect with the cultural significance of Día de los Muertos through creativity and hands-on experience. One of the highlights of the event will be the opportunity to meet Guadalupe Hernandez, the talented artist behind our current exhibit, "Con Cariño." This exhibit beautifully captures the essence of Mexican culture and heritage, showcasing Hernandez's deep appreciation for his roots. Attendees will have the chance to hear directly from Hernandez during an exclusive art talk, where he will share insights into his work and the inspiration behind his stunning pieces. Join the City of Lubbock, the Lubbock Cultural Arts Foundation, the Lubbock Music Advisory Committee, and the Office of the Governor's Texas Music Office for the 6th Annual Texas Sounds & Cities Conference in Lubbock, TX November 6-8, 2024! This two-day conference will include panel discussions on Texas music scene development, conversations about potential state-wide collaboration between the certified communities, as well as conversations spotlighting economic development best practices which in turn lead to increased music tourism and music scene cohesion. This yearly conference is a time for our Music Friendly Texas Certified Communities to come together and learn from each other. Music Friendly Texas Community Liaisons are invited to present updates from their respective programs. There will be time for round table discussions to learn from the successes and challenges of their fellow certified communities.

Driving Miss Daisy

          Placed in the Deep South in 1948, Driving Miss Daisy follows a rich, sharp-tongued Jewish widow of seventy-two and her newly appointment chauffeur, Hoke, who is thoughtful black man. Miss Daisy immediately regards Hoke with disdain and who, in turn, is not impressed with his employer’s patronizing tone and, he believes, her latent prejudice. Will they be able to overcome their differences?
