Born in Taft, Texas, and raised in Yanush, Oklahoma, LaRue’s passion for music began early. His journey led him to Stillwater, Oklahoma, where he became immersed in the vibrant Red Dirt music scene alongside influential artists like Jason Boland and Cody Canada. Together, they helped define the raw, soulful sound that Red Dirt is known for today. Inspired by legends like Woody Guthrie, Bob Childers, and Mike McClure, LaRue has built a career rooted in blending heartfelt lyrics with raw emotion and genre-defying creativity. Over the years, LaRue has released a string of critically acclaimed albums that have cemented his reputation as one of the most respected voices in his genre.
