Multi-award-winning hit songwriter and artist, Danny Wells was born and raised in Roanoke Rapids, NC. Music was an integral part of his life for as long as he can remember. He grew up singing in church, began taking piano lessons in 2nd grade, was writing his first songs shortly thereafter, and eventually, became a performing member of the Christian music group, New Beginning. Music was in his blood. Upon graduating high school, Wells attended Southwestern College in Oklahoma City where he received his A.A. degree. In 1980, the North Carolina native decided to make the move to Music City where he attended and graduated from Belmont University receiving a B.M. degree in Commercial Music - all while continuing to perform and write. Fast forward fifteen years of honing his craft and working in the business, Wells’ first cut came in 1995. He is recognized for the #1 HITS, “Check Yes or No,” recorded by George Strait, “These Days,” recorded by Rascal Flatts, and “Couldn’t Last a Moment,” by Collin Raye. In perfect fashion with the blues, this year’s Tall City Blues Fest will be held again at the The Destination’s Old Lumberyard located at 1705 W. Industrial in Midland. The Old Lumberyard is formerly a lumberyard long ago abandoned, but since repurposed and revamped with a juke joint vibe to be one of Midland’s coolest, most eclectic outdoor venues, accented with gems of days gone past. The Phyllis and Bob Cowan Performing Arts Series invites you to a special (FREE) performance from Los Lobos on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. at the Al G. Langford Chaparral Center. The band's influence stems from rock and roll, Tex-Mex, country, zydeco, folk R&B, blues, brown-eyed soul and traditional music such as cumbia, boleros and norteños.
