Each episode of this competitive, humor-centric reading series features a thrilling mix of four famous and emerging authors (all representing a literary publication, press or concern — online, in print or live) who perform their most electric writing in seven minutes or less before a lively audience and a panel of three all-star judges. After each pair of readings, the judges — focused on literary merit, performance and intangibles — take turns spouting hilarious, off-the-wall commentary about each story, then select their favorite to advance to the finals. The two finalists then compete in the Literary Death Match finale, which trades in the show’s literary sensibility for an absurd and comical climax to determine who takes home the Literary Death Match crown. For more than a quarter of a century, San Antonio audiences have enjoyed seeing themselves reflected on stage by the characters of Silvia, Josie and Patsy in their uproariously comical attempt at their first tamalada while the spirits of Doña Mercedes and Doña Juanita add to excitement and drama as they join the new tamaleras in an amusing power struggle about whose recipe makes the perfect tamal. Centered around friendship, family and comradery, the play makes you laugh, makes you cry and makes you proud!

Learn from a member of the Odessa Fire and Rescue how to do a version of CPR that uses only your hands! This program will be held in the 3rd floor auditorium from 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM. Only 10 people will be able to participate, but anyone can watch and learn! This program is for ages 12 to 18 years old.
