Since 1994, The Nutcracker has been a cherished community tradition, brought to life by over a hundred students from dance studios across West Texas, including Midland, Odessa, Andrews, Greenwood, and Big Spring.

    Epic battles, lands made of sweets, living toys and even fairies, there’s something for the whole family to enjoy! Since 1994, Midland Festival Ballet’s annual production of The Nutcracker has been a culmination of the community’s effort and talent. While MFB facilitates the production, the cast is comprised of over a hundred students from dance studios all over West Texas. (Midland, Odessa, Andrews, Greenwood, even Big Spring!) The principal roles are filled by dancers from premiere professional ballet companies across the country, a treat for both the students and the audience. (Guests TBA.) Live orchestral accompaniment, provided by the West Texas Symphony, takes the performance to another level.     Details The SandHills Stock Show & Rodeo is set to return to the Ector County Coliseum from January 8 to 17, 2026, bringing together the best in professional rodeo action, livestock shows, and family entertainment. This year marks an impressive 93 years of livestock shows and 78 years of rodeo action, continuing a proud tradition that began in the early 1930s. Serving as the official kickoff for the stock show circuit and the start of the pro-rodeo Texas swing, a night at the SandHills Rodeo promises an experience filled with saluting the flag, cheering for winning rides, and getting up close to bone-jarring action. The 2026 rodeo will feature elite PRCA competition, with top-ranked cowboys and cowgirls competing head-to-head in events such as bull riding, barrel racing, saddle bronc riding, calf roping, and more. New to the lineup this year is specialty act John Payne, “The One Arm Bandit,” whose world-renowned horse and herd performance has earned him 15 PRCA Rodeo Act of the Year titles. The Globe Theatre invites OC students, faculty, and the local Odessa/Midland community to showcase their creative talents, whether it be singing, dancing, poetry, storytelling, photography, film, stand-up comedy, drama, culinary arts, or horticulture—everything is welcome!
