The Ellen Noël Art Museum is thrilled to announce a new session of Adventures in Art, designed for aspiring artists aged 6-12. This engaging program offers young creatives the opportunity to learn the art of portrait painting, focusing on capturing the likeness of family members. Classes are scheduled from 2:30-4:30 PM, making for an inspiring and educational afternoon activity. Participants will begin with a tour of the museum's current exhibitions, drawing inspiration from professional artworks before diving into their own studio projects. The hands-on experience allows students to explore various techniques and develop their unique artistic skills under the guidance of experienced instructors. The cost for each class is $20, with advance online registration required by noon Thursday, October 31st. Due to the limited class size, we encourage early registration to ensure your young artist secures a spot. This is a fantastic opportunity for children to immerse themselves in the world of portrait painting, gain new artistic insights, and enjoy a creative and supportive environment. At 1:00 PM, we invite you to experience a beautifully illustrated story and a creative art activity. This free event offers an engaging children's story followed by a hands-on art project that connects to the tale. Our featured book for this session is Stuck by Oliver Jeffers. Little ones will be entertained by the whimsical story of Floyd and his attempts to free his kite from a tree. After the story, children will get to participate in an art activity inspired by Floyd's adventures. It’s a wonderful opportunity to foster a love of reading and creativity in young children while spending quality time together. This two-day conference will include panel discussions on Texas music scene development, conversations about potential state-wide collaboration between the certified communities, as well as conversations spotlighting economic development best practices which in turn lead to increased music tourism and music scene cohesion. This yearly conference is a time for our Music Friendly Texas Certified Communities to come together and learn from each other. Music Friendly Texas Community Liaisons are invited to present updates from their respective programs. There will be time for round table discussions to learn from the successes and challenges of their fellow certified communities.
