  • Hello Sophie!: The Picture Book Art of Sophie Blackall · Exhibit opens

    Wednesday, September 13, 2023 9:00 AM- Sunday, November 26, 2023 5:00 PM Sophie Blackall is an award-winning children’s author and illustrator. Blackall’s artistry originated with drawing in the sand on the beaches of her childhood home in Australia. Her skills and passion grew until she earned a Bachelor of Design with honors in Sydney in 1992. In the following years, she drew robotic figures for amusement parks, lent her hands to a DIY television show, and produced a household hints column. She has illustrated over 30 children’s books and created one book for adults. Curated by the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature, Hello Sophie!: The Picture Book Art of Sophie Blackall, showcases examples of the 30 illustrated artworks for her children’s books that she created. On display starting September 13 to November 26, 2023. Free and open to the public.

    The Temptations, often referred to as American Music Royalty, are world-renowned superstars of entertainment, revered for their phenomenal catalog of music and prolific career. The group celebrated their 60th Anniversary through 2022. To mark this milestone, The Temptations released a brand-new album, Temptations 60, with nearly all-original songs in January of 2022. Dr. Otis Williams, the sole surviving, original member of The Temptations, turned 80 on October 30th of 2021.

    Originally from Arkansas, David Adam Byrnes now calls Texas home. A modern day troubadour, he tours the country and performs over 120 dates per year. He has shared the stage with: Easton Corbin, Cody Johnson, Joe Nichols and Dylan Scott to just name a few. He has released 7 singles to Texas Country Radio and all 7 songs have hit the #1 spot on the Texas Regional Radio Report as published by Billboard (a feat that has not been accomplished by any other artist in the charts history). To compliment his success at country radio he tours the USA playing over 125 shows per year. His newest album, "Keep Up With A Cowgirl" debuted Top 5 on iTunes Country Music Charts and received rave reviews with Taste of Country Music calling Byrnes: "one of the lone star state's most intriguing artists at the moment".
