• Westward Faux Exhibit by B. Shawn Cox

Ellen Noel Art Museum 4909 E. University, Odessa, TX, United States
    Museum

    B. Shawn Cox, originally from Monahans, Texas, veered away from a ranching lifestyle to pursue degrees in Architecture and Law. Following various business ventures and detours, he now finds himself driven by a compelling urge to create. His current artistic endeavors involve revisiting and reflecting upon memories, perceptions, and understandings-some real, some imagined, often twisted. Through this exploration of both internal and external narratives, Cox aims to visually express the motivations and gain insights into the world and his place within it. Ellen Noël Art Museum is temporarily housed in the UTPB Presidential Archives, located at 4919 E. University Blvd. Odessa, TX 79762. This exhibition is open during their business hours: TUESDAY – SUNDAY 12 – 5 PM THURSDAY 12 – 8 PM CLOSED MONDAY AND HOLIDAYS Admission is FREE

  • Interweaving A Solo Exhibition by Hamed Edalati Tabrizi

Nancy Fyfe Cardozier Gallery 4901 E. Univsersity Blvd, Odessa, United States
    Visual Arts

"Interweaving" A Solo Exhibition by Hamed Edalati Tabrizi, graphic design faculty member at UTPB. This exhibition examines the intricate interplay of identity, language, and cultural migration through the lens of graphic design. As a graphic designer, Hamed pushes the boundaries of the medium, transforming the foundational elements of design—line, shape and type—into a dynamic exploration of cultural exchange and adaptation. Drawing inspiration from ancient motifs of the Islamic era in Iran and the geometric patterns of the ancient West, the works interweave these historical designs with a modern, minimalistic approach. The exhibition features interactive installations, inviting viewers to navigate the complexities of cultural dislocation, language acquisition, and self-discovery. Mirrors play a central role in his exhibition, symbolizing self-reflection and the merging of multiple perspectives. The minimalist yet profound aesthetic draws attention to the nuanced balance between identity and transformation. By juxtaposing light, movement, and poetic forms, the works encourage viewers to uncover hidden layers, both within the art and within themselves, fostering moments of personal and collective understanding. Through this immersive experience, Interweaving celebrates the enduring connection to one’s roots while embracing the transformative possibilities of cultural exchange.
