Ellen Noel Art Museum 4909 E. University, Odessa, TX, United States

In celebration of the Museum's 40th anniversary, we are excited to announce this exhibition as a tribute to our collection. Throughout the past four decades, we have diligently collected and preserved a diverse collection of artworks that encapsulates the cultural and historical significance of our region and the broader artistic community. Our collecting mission has been rooted in the belief that collecting art is not merely a task; it is a responsibility we hold for future generations. By ensuring that these works of art, along with the narratives they convey, remain accessible, we are fostering a lasting connection between our community and the artistic expressions that define it. This exhibition will not only showcase 40 exceptional artists but also feature a timeline that highlights significant events from the Museum's history over the last 40 years. These artworks will spark memories of past shows, programs, and events, allowing visitors to reflect on our history. We invite you to explore these artistic contributions that resonate with our identity and inspire ongoing dialogue about our community's journey. Join us in celebrating our past, present, and future as we honor the artists and stories that shape our collective experience. This exhibition features old favorites, […]

Ray Wylie Hubbard

The Ector Theatre 500 N. Texas, Odessa, TX, United States

Pre-sale tickets available! All tickets on sale Friday, Feb 21st at noon! When F. Scott Fitzgerald issued his classic conclusion that ‘There are no second acts in American lives,’ he failed to envision the career of legendary Texas troubadour Ray Wylie Hubbard. A willing conspirator in the late seventies Cosmic Cowboy revolt that ushered in the mythical Outlaw era, Hubbard was a catalyst in the cultural upheaval that led to the peaceful coexistence of Lone Star music enthusiasts who comprised each end of the social and political spectrum of that troubled time. In the stellar company of iconic colleagues like Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Doug Sahm and Jerry Jeff Walker, Ray Wylie Hubbard was an architect of the musical legacy that continues to inspire subsequent generations of up-and-coming Texas talent. But along the way, his attention began to leave matters extraneous to his art and soul by the wayside and focus on the beauty and potential to be found in the blank canvas of, […]
