The Leaf Connection showcases the vibrant plant diversity of the Phoenix metro area through an intricate display of hand-made, ceramic leaves at Webster Center. With more than 1,000 ceramic pieces, each leaf’s design is influenced by observations community scientists record on iNaturalist, an established online platform where nature lovers share information on biodiversity. During the course of the exhibit, local artist Mary Meyer will periodically add new ceramic leaves as more people contribute observations on iNaturalist. The Garden invites guests to engage with this distinctive art installation, offering a captivating opportunity to reconnect with nature. Exhibition unavailable during private events. Mary Meyer is a sculptor and mixed media artist whose work utilizes systems of carved components that investigate the intimate connections between community and botanicals. Originally trained in stone carving, she is drawn to meditative processes and materials such as clay, wood and metal that foster the intuitive exploration of form.     Doylene H. Land attributes her love for wide-open spaces to her lifelong residence in West Texas. The region’s desert landscape, expansive sky, and ever-changing clouds have captivated her since childhood, with the flat, stark horizon holding a special fascination for her. This linear horizon frequently appears in her oil paintings, where she blends cherished everyday objects with natural elements to create personal visual narratives. She is most known for her oil paintings as well as her installation art, which feature her ancestral influences that have affected her life as an artist.

    Basin Theatre Works invites audiences of all ages to experience the colorful, high-energy musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, live under the West Texas sky. This family-friendly production will be performed in the outdoor amphitheater at Stonegate Church (4240 Preston Smith Road) on July 25, 26, 31, and August 1 & 2. Each performance begins at 8:00 PM, with local food trucks opening at 6:30 PM to serve up delicious pre-show eats. Told entirely through song, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a vibrant retelling of the Biblical story of Joseph, his jealous brothers, and his journey from slave to ruler of Egypt. With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, the show blends pop, rock, calypso, and country into a joyful celebration of faith, forgiveness, and the power of dreams. “This production is a celebration of community and storytelling,” said BTW artistic director Scott Windham. “It’s a musical the whole family can enjoy together, set against a stunning West Texas sunset.” Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for comfortable seating in the amphitheater.
