Hailing from the Emerald City, Kate Voss got her start in the club scene in Seattle playingwith a variety of groups on piano. When her jazz studies were nearing an end, her musicalinterests could not be pinned down to a single genre, her teacher assigned her the title of"dilettante". Luckily for us all, that only inspired Kate to further explore other avenues formaking music and ultimately brought her to form Kate Voss & The Hot Sauce whichencompasses all the genres she loves. A true variety band, this act pulls from her variedbackground of jazz, blues, pop, country, western-swing, oldies, americana and rockabilly. Asa full-time musician, Voss has cultivated a stage presence that charms and delights folks anda voice that "Nails the authenticity of the era" with tunes from Brenda Lee to Nancy Sinatraand Patsy Cline to Ray Charles. The Ellen Noël Art Museum is excited to offer "Adventures in Art," an enriching art class designed for aspiring artists ages 6-12. This engaging program allows young creatives to explore their artistic talents through a combination of exhibition tours and hands-on studio projects. Classes are held from 2:30-4:30 PM, providing a perfect afternoon activity for budding artists. In our upcoming session, students will have the unique opportunity to tour the current exhibition featuring Guadalupe Hernandez’s stunning large-scale displays of papel picado. These intricate and colorful cut paper artworks will serve as the inspiration for the day's studio project. Participants will learn the traditional techniques of making their own papel picado, allowing them to connect with this beautiful and historic art form in a meaningful way. The cost for each class is $20, with advance, online registration required by noon Thursday, October 3rd.
