We will be exploring Who We Are, focusing on these questions: - Who are we in relation to God/the Divine? - Who do we want to be in relation to God/the Divine? - What is broken in our relationship with God/the Divine? - Who are we in relation to Creation/Nature/the World? - Who do we want to be in relation to Creation/Nature/the World? - What is broken in our relationship to Creation/Nature/the World? - Who are we in relation to ourselves? - Who do we want to be in relation to ourselves? - What is broken in our relationship to ourselves? WTMA employs eight music teachers providing music education for children. With current enrollment of over 100, we have served over 1,000 during the past decade. We provide training in piano, guitar, violin, drums and singing. West Texas Music Academy opened in an 8th street location of June 13, 2011. In November of 2013, we relocated to our current location. We will mark the anniversary by hosting and outdoor performance event. Sunday, June 13, 2021 WTMA Lawn Chair Anniversary Concert 6:30 – 8:00 PM The 100 block of 5th street will be blocked off and students will perform in front of the WTMA building. The public is invited to bring a lawn chair and enjoy musical performances by West Texas youngsters. No admission charge.

This year’s Juneteenth celebration is back with a theme of “Our Future Matters” and is scheduled June 18-20. The weekend’s events will start on June 18 with the Dallas Black Dance Theatre at the Ector Theatre from 7-9 p.m The events on June 19 will take place at Blackshear Auditorium, beginning with youth activities (including food, face painting, and a performance by Shout Cheerleading) that will take place from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Then from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. will be the Hometown Heroes “Living the Dream” with a presentation of scholarships and door prizes. Following that will be the annual Juneteenth Pageant from 4-6 p.m. June 20 will feature a Gospel Celebration with Rev. Eddie Jenkins of Good Street Baptist Church in Dallas from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at Blackshear Auditorium. Other events that will be going on during the weekend include the Regina McKnight Juneteenth Volleyball Tournament from June 18-20. All games will take place at Ector Fieldhouse.
