Please join us for MUSEUM UNCORKED: A NIGHT OF ART & WINE in conjunction with this exhibit on March 8, 2024. Gastronomy is the study of the relationship between food and culture, featuring not only the bountiful gifts from nature, but a gift from the human hand. The art of preparing unique, delicate food is a tradition passed from generation to generation around the world. It combines innovative ingredients, colors, textures, and flavors to create dishes that are pleasing to both the palate and the eye. This exhibition is the blend of the art of cooking and the artistry of quilting. Gastronomy showcases over 30 quilts created by members of the Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc. Vizyon Art by Young Visionaries – Haitian Children’s Art Show – Exhibit Opens
Ellen Noel Art Museum 4909 E. University, OdessaArtistic expression is inherently shaped by cultural influences and personal experiences within a given society. Haiti is no exception to this rule. In response to this cultural dynamic, the nonprofit organization, New Vision Art School, located in Port-au-Prince, Haiti was established to address a community need. It serves as a safe haven for children, offering them the opportunity to enjoy workshops, channel their creativity, embark on educational journeys to museums and other art-related institutions, and fosters a supportive community where parents can connect and receive assistance. This pop-up exhibition showcases the artistic creations by children who have benefitted from the nonprofit organization, New Vision Art School, located in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The artwork by these children reflects their cultural beliefs, traditions, and customs. Please join us for a reception one week after opening, on February 8th, 2024, at 6PM! on loan from the Hatcher-Levinger Family collection.
Adventures in Art
Ellen Noel Art Museum 4909 E. University, OdessaAdventures in Art Ages 6 - 12 Adventures in Art is an exhibition-driven class for children ages 6 - 12. We begin with a gallery walk of a related exhibition in the museum and finish with a studio art experience that changes with each class. This 1 hour class is held once a month from October - May. Registration is required in advance only of $20, due by the previous Thursday at 5:00 pm. Scholarships are available. For more information contact Annie Stanley here. Dancing with the Stars – With Special Guest Julianne Hough and Harry Jowsey
Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center 1310 FM 1788, MidlandAudiences at Dancing with the Stars: Live! will have the opportunity to experience the breathless excitement, the athleticism, and the artistry they see in the TV show’s famed ballroom live, up-close, and personal. The tour delivers an unforgettable night of electrifying dance performances from world-renowned dancers who topped the leaderboard, including Brandon Armstrong, Rylee Arnold, Alan Bersten, Daniella Karagach, Pasha Pashkov, Gleb Savchenko, Emma Slater, and Britt Stewart. Also joining the tour is special guest Julianne Hough! The triple-threat superstar Dancing with the Stars co-host and two-time Mirrorball Champion will be lighting up the stage on select dates! Season 32 fan favorite Harry Jowsey is thrilled to be joining the tour and performing at Wagner Noël PAC! Harry Jowsey has previously starred on Heartbreak Island (Australia), Too Hot to Handle, and Match Me If You Can.
