40 Years 40 Artists: An Anniversary Exhibition

Ellen Noel Art Museum 4909 E. University, Odessa
Museum

In celebration of the Museum's 40th anniversary, we are excited to announce this exhibition as a tribute to our collection. Throughout the past four decades, we have diligently collected and preserved a diverse collection of artworks that encapsulates the cultural and historical significance of our region and the broader artistic community. Our collecting mission has been rooted in the belief that collecting art is not merely a task; it is a responsibility we hold for future generations. By ensuring that these works of art, along with the narratives they convey, remain accessible, we are fostering a lasting connection between our community and the artistic expressions that define it. This exhibition will not only showcase 40 exceptional artists but also feature a timeline that highlights significant events from the Museum's history over the last 40 years. These artworks will spark memories of past shows, programs, and events, allowing visitors to reflect on our history. We invite you to explore these artistic contributions that resonate with our identity and inspire ongoing dialogue about our community's journey. Join us in celebrating our past, present, and future as we honor the artists and stories that shape our collective experience. This exhibition features old favorites, […]

Visual Arts

DATES: Now through Aug. 24 TIMES: 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. PRICE: Included with Membership or General Admission. The Leaf Connection showcases the vibrant plant diversity of the Phoenix metro area through an intricate display of hand-made, ceramic leaves at Webster Center. With more than 1,000 ceramic pieces, each leaf’s design is influenced by observations community scientists record on iNaturalist, an established online platform where nature lovers share information on biodiversity. During the course of the exhibit, local artist Mary Meyer will periodically add new ceramic leaves as more people contribute observations on iNaturalist. The Garden invites guests to engage with this distinctive art installation, offering a captivating opportunity to reconnect with nature. Exhibition unavailable during private events. Midland Festival Ballet Presents Bach in Ballet

Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center 1310 FM 1788, Midland
Music

This year’s showcase is themed around Johan Sebastian Bach. The Baroque composer may seem old, and maybe even irrelevant, but many famous neoclassical ballets are set to Bach’s music - most notably Concerto Barocco by George Balanchine, which remains one of Balanchine's most performed works around the world! Neoclassical ballet is all about making the music visual, a difficult skill we start teaching and refining even in our youngest dancers. We’re excited to work with them as they hear new melodies (and instruments!) and learn about some of these ballets (an important part of a dancer’s education) while demonstrating all they’ve learned this year!
